I guess it's just one of those days...

I recently noticed that the beginning of FAKE, the novel that's with beta readers right now, is, to put it lightly, f'ed. It basically makes no sense. We have no idea who the main character is before she's dropped right into conflict. Genius Beta Reader #1 suggested that all the scenes with MC #1 in it are basically the same, and Genius Beta Reader #2 picked up on this, also, so I decided to go back to the beginning to fix it.

And of course, now I'm totally stuck. /Sigh. So I went to Subway, thinking that a 5$ Footlong would solve everything. It didn't. Now I'm back at the desk, staring at my Post-It Plot Wall in despair.

Hopefully something happens soon.

  1. $5 foot long won't solve your problems. You should have bought a cookie too :)

  2. Sometimes inspiration hits when you least expect it. Good luck on your revisions!

  3. i heartily recommend (that word makes me sound seventy :|) taking a little break. ive heard authors say that when they get their edits, they put em aside for two weeks (its different for everyone, obvs) and then come back to em. it generally makes life much easier, ive heard. so yeah, that might be what you need (unless youve got a tight deadline or something...)!
